INTEGRATION

ICR PLUS

Internal Cable Routing is carefully guided along the best path under the stem and through the head tube, with no rub or rattle, and is optimized for both traditional and electronic shifting systems. Proprietary headset spacers smooth airflow and offer easy adjustment. The entire Orbea road line offers this clean solution with OC Integrated stems and cable covers.

INTEGRATED LIGHTS

It’s like magic – Fully integrated lighting is just one more feature to enhance your ride. Gain is safer and more functional with head and tail lamps that announce your presence day and night. With full-time running lights and an optional high beam light Gain is ready for the road.

HIDDEN CLAMP

The seatpost clamp of each Gain Carbon is integrated smoothly into the frame, decreasing the likelihood of contamination and increasing aerodynamics. It also looks great, too.

INTEGRATED COVERS

Gain has only one external wire connection, allowing the rear wheel to be removed from the bike. This cable is tucked neatly under the chainstay and hidden with a smoothly-integrated cover. The battery access port under the BB is similarly invisible, and the headset cover blends neatly into the top tube. After all, what’s the point of designing a great-riding bike and forgetting the design details?

EBIKEMOTION X35 PLUS

The Gain motor is the heart of the bike and the key component behind the Enough Energy concept. Its sophisticated transmission system provides smooth, balanced and reliable pedaling assistance in levels that allow you to improve your rides without making it too easy. And since the motor is located on the wheel axle, not the bottom bracket, you’ll enjoy pedaling without resistance when the power assist is off. The Gain’s torque simulation algorithm allows the bike to match power input per pedal stroke in order to generate more power when it’s needed and conserve it when it’s not.

INTERNAL BATTERY

The battery is one of the most noticeable components of an eBike system, so every step has been taken to find the lightest, smallest and most discreet unit. Gain’s Enough Range battery provides you enough battery power, not more. It eliminates the need for a bulky, high-output battery that needs to be removed from the bike.

RANGE EXTENDER

The Gain is designed for long rides, but there may be some days that require more: more time on the bike, more elevation gain… The Range Extender, Gain’s external charger, integrates perfectly into the bottle cage and powers you up with even more autonomy.

When added to the Ebikemotion X35 system, the extender charges the bike’s main battery and provides an additional 208 W/h to the 248W/h capacity of the internal battery. This brings the system battery size to over 450W/h, giving a 70% boost in range.

IWOC ONE AND DISPLAY

Gain’s control center is an attractive and discreet button on the top tube and a cycle computer mounted on the stem. With the simple iWoc ONE interface you can power the system on or off, check motor assist level and view the remaining battery charge. Colored LED lighting puts all the information you need right at your fingertips.

CHARGING PORT

Gain doesn’t require a multitude of wires, ports or accessories. The CAN (Controller Area Network) bus port provides a single interface for charging, system diagnosis or attaching the Range Extender.

PAS SENSOR

Gain’s smooth and balanced assist requires an advanced sensor. Blending perfectly with our effort to create a sleek and discrete system, the cassette lock ring is replaced with a PAS sensor that monitors your pedaling input and adjusts power accordingly.

MATERIALS

ORBEA MONOCOQUE CARBON

We use the most technologically advanced carbon construction available to make the most sophisticated frame possible – A complex and painstaking process with results you will appreciate in the saddle.

OMR frames add high modulus and high strength fibers to a standard layup to improve stiffness-to-weight ratios. Bladder molding with EPS forms and PU headtube and bottom bracket inserts stop wrinkling and unconformities in critical zones, allowing less carbon to be used while maintaining strength.

ORBEA HYDROFORMED ALUMINUM

We manipulate the shapes and wall-thickness of our aluminum tubing to increase strength and resistance to unwanted flex. Many of the tubes are butted to save weight in the middle of the tubes, away from the stress of the joints and the weld zones. Using aluminum technologies as advanced as our carbon manufacturing ensures our aluminum bikes are never second-best.

FORGED BB AND DROPOUTS

Designing a new lightweight bottom bracket shell for Gain Hydro allowed us to dramatically improve stiffness, create easier battery access and more room for internal cable routing all while increasing tire clearance. Not to mention it looks really great, too.

DYNAMIC STRUCTURE

STIFFNESS

The large majority of torsional and lateral loads are handled by the lower spine of the frame. The headtube, downtube and chainstays resist twisting and transmit power to the rear wheel. There is no doubt about it, resistance to flex in the bottom of the frame translates directly to more watts to the wheel and a sensation that power transfer is instantaneous.

SMOOTHNESS

Carbon structure, tubing shapes and frame design are elemental to building a comfortable frame that helps reduce muscle fatigue. The natural flex patterns created by the carbon layup and minimal bulk of the top tube and seat stays deliver a dynamic, smooth ride that feels like floating over rough roads. The sensation is subtle – but it is noticeable and can be tested. And at the end of a long day it could mean the difference between climbing one last col and climbing off the bike.

Orbea Endurance Geometry is born from years of analyzing how ergonomics can help you ride further. Unlike a racing geometry that is focused on aerodynamics, endurance ergonomics result in a bike that is easier to ride and increases stamina. Handling is precise and intuitive. Angles and dimensions are considered carefully across a range of sizes to maximize rider comfort – and more comfort means longer rides.
