Orbea Teams Go For Glory at the 2025 Absa Cape Epic.
In just a few days, almost seven hundred teams will be in the starting corral for the 2025 Absa Cape Epic. While the route takes in around seven hundred kilometres and sixteen thousand metres of climbing over eight days, the route always changes and is a closely-guarded secret.
The 2025 event promises to be one of the most challenging yet and Orbea will be represented by four different teams each with their own goals and expectations from the event.
Orbea Leatt Speed Company Racing
Lukas Baum and Georg Egger make up the Orbea Leatt Speed Company Racing team taking on this year’s race an have a real chance of winning the event outright. From the high of their victory in 2023 to the low of having to deal with illness last year, the team are more motivated than ever to repeat their success. The pair are known for ther aggressive riding style, adapting to the challenges of the race and their strategic approach. This year, they will be easy to spot with their custom MyO Oiz race bike for Georg and the European Champion version for Lukas.
Orbea Fox Factory Team
Orbea Fox Factory Team will be lead out by Ibon Zugasti, alongside his team mate Kaare Aagaard. Ibon has tasted victory here before and will be looking to repeat this in 2025. He will also offer his unique insight into the race through the eight day competition. Look out for their custom 2025 Absa Cape Epic setup, that includes their Oiz race bikes, OQUO wheels and HIRU riding kit.
Klimatiza Orbea
Also in with a shout of taking the title are Klimatiza Orbea that will be fielding two teams comprising of Samuele Porro and Marc Stutzmann, plus Miguel Muñoz and Luis Martínez. Their style differs from Speed Company Racing with a focus on endurance and their race management tactics, making them consistent performers. These two pairs will also benefit from custom Orbea Oiz bikes.
Pump For Peace
Pump For Peace carries a meaningful message of the power of sport beyond competition whilst competing at the highest level. With a goal of improving access to cycling to underprivileged communities around the World, they are an inspiring presence at the 2025 Absa Cape Epic.
Orbea ambassadors will also be flying the flag for us in South Africa, with the Basque Country’s own Haimar Zubeldia returning amongst a host of other ambassadors.
An endurance event like the Absa Cape Epic requires high performance but also high reliability in a range of demanding environments. Whilst making our bikes lighter and more aerodynamic, they are also more durable than ever, making them the perfect tool for the job.
