AN #ORBEA500CHALLENGE THANK YOU

Say goodbye to the Orbea Indoor 500 Challenge. We had a great time pushing our limits, staying active, playing together and giving away awesome prizes. Thank you for participating and keeping us inspired every day!

Thanks for joining us in the great indoors the last two months. We are excited to return to the roads, the mountains and the outdoors, and we are coming back stronger (and more responsible) than ever.

“Orbea knows how to be attentive to its community, demonstrating the value of listening.” That’s what the University of Pompeu Fabra Barcelona School of Management had to say about the #Orbea500Challenge in their digital marketing blog.

Numerous media outlets from around the world, including TV stations, radio shows and industry sites, picked up the news about our campaign and echoed similar statements, encouraging more people participate in our campaign during Covid-19.

INDOOR CHALLENGES

You can’t have challenges with the rewards. We gave away a ton of prizes to people that participated in Orbea 500 Challenges on our Strava club, Facebook and Instagram, including Orbea clothing, cycling gear, an Orbea MX-Kids bike and a dinner for two at the prestigious Basque restaurant, Singular, by chef Iñigo Lavado.

WINNERS AND AWARDS

We leveled up in the fourth and final round of the Orbea Indoor Challenge to take on some of the world’s most epic cycling feats. We’re excited to announce the final winners from our Orbea Strava club.

-An Orbea kit for Simone Camomilla for completing the Enduro World Series challenge.

-A pack of Orbea casual apparel for Kris Crommen for completing Mikel Nieve’s victory in the 2011 Giro.

-A pack of Orbea casual apparel for both Alo Diver and Enrique Revuelta for sharing the best photos / videos on social media.

-An Orbea Factory Team kit for Abel Escorihuela Gomez for completing the Giro d’Italia 2020 challenge.

Manuel Fernández Pérez, Alfio Dagani and Rene Cason also received social media “flash” prizes: Monegros Challenge, Orbea Quiz and Orbea Challenge, respectively.

The challenges are over, but the Orbea Strava club is still in full swing with nearly 12,000 members. Have you joined yet?

PARTNER BRANDS

Thanks to our partner brands who graciously donated “flash” prizes to our social media challenges. A special shoutout goes to Selle ItaliaIsostarFizikMuc-OffWahoo.

In total, we gave away prizes to nearly 40 people who committed to staying healthy and happy indoors.

STRONGER TOGETHER

The #Orbea500Challenge also allowed us to throw our support behind organizations with strong social causes, particularly in times of global need. We partnered with UNICEF to help contribute more resources as they worked to provide emergency relief for children during Covid-19.

We organized two fundraisers on eBay and donated the full winning bids to UNICEF, a total of €14,419. The two auctions included an Orbea Oiz and kit from Cape Epic (winning bid, €7,101) and a Euskaltel Euskadi team Orca OMX bike and team jersey (winning bid, €7,318).

Thank you to our winning bidders, and thank you, UNICEF, for your incredibly powerful work.

LIVE BROADCASTS

We had a great time leveraging the #Orbea500Challenge with live stream shows on Instagram to inspire, motivate and connect with our community.

We interviewed an incredible roster of athletes, ambassadors, cycling champions, fitness gurus, Orbea employees, comedians and chefs who kept us on our toes. Thank you for everyone who tuned in and for those who shared your knowledge with the greater cycling community.

While cycling played a huge role in the campaign, we added content for the whole family.

Legendary Basque chef Iñigo Lavado gave us a delicious perspective on staying healthy, with recipes to keep everyone fueled up for any adventure, indoors or out. Thanks, Iñigo!

Video was the star of the #Orbea500Challenge. During the campaign, our YouTube channel tipped over 100,000 subscribers, and we’re only getting started. Now more than ever, we’re commited to creating and sharing more videos with you and including you along the way.

Long story short, thanks to everyone involved in the #Orbea500Challenge. With your help and participation, we turned the campaign into an act of unity and strength. While we accomplished a lot from home, we can’t wait to get back outside and accomplish even more with a breath of fresh air.
