Let the tides flood it all!
Time goes by at a different pace during the summer time; the days blend into one when we can enjoy life without a clock or calendar. Only certain events, specific moments, make us aware of the passage of time. Each year, the Giro marks the spring, the Tour the beginning of summer, and the Vuelta gently reminds us that September isn’t far off.
August has arrived once again, it’s the month of La Vuelta. The 2024 edition will be a special one for Orbea cause we will be present with two teams.
Our home squad, the one that’s always been with us and keeps us connected to our roots and territory: our beloved Euskaltel-Euskadi.
Additionally, this season a new actor takes the Orbea stage to split our hearts in two: Lotto-Dstny arrives in Spain after a great year of racing.
Both teams have extra motivation; two of the most genuinely beloved cyclists in the peloton are retiring: it’s the last ride for Luis Ángel Maté and Thomas De Gendt, and the best tribute would be a great victory. It will be exciting to see the two teams united, enjoying that moment.
However, not even the most thrilling stages or the closest sprints tug at our hearts as much as seeing the roadside packed with fans who lose their voices cheering for their idols. And in this field, dear friends, the victory is ours: there is no fan base like the orange tide. The pulse quickens, and breathing becomes difficult when we see huge swaths of the same color beating in unison with Euskaltel year after year for decades.
As if that weren’t enough, in this edition, two other colors will paint our jerseys, and we’ll hold our breath every stage for the red and sky blue of the legendary Belgians of Lotto-Dstny.
In just a few days, we will live two time trial stages, climb legendary mountains and discover hidden gems that La Vuelta loves to show us, along with a flat stage and a several challenging mid-mountain days. Every terrain has its bike: Orca, Orca Aero and Ordu are ready to take the stage.
The countdown has started. Let the red and sky blue take over the roadsides! Let the orange tide flood everything once again!”
