Building the future of cycling
We’ve seen a family crying their eyes out in the last few days. A large family, with lots of fathers and mothers, full of children, grandparents and other relatives. There is a huge family dressed in blue and red, an ancient, Belgian family.
There is a proud team that has cried tears of pure happiness. Lotto-Dstny has seen, for the first time, a Belgian rise to victory in the Giro Next Gen.
Jarno Widar makes history in a perfect week: two stage wins for him and another for Steffen De Schuyteneer; in addition to the young rider jersey. Jarno is the youngest cyclist to win the Maglia Rosa in 20 years.
There is a great privilege, an enormous pleasure in watching someone grow. In accompanying a new generation as they become great and fulfill their dreams.
In a week when the older brothers count the hours until the start of the Tour, the big event of the year, the importance of the Devo Team becomes even more evident. For Lotto-Dstny, the Development Team is not a secondary project; training the youth is one of the most important tasks for us in this house. Building the future of cycling with good riders and good people.
There is another family who has been excited since Sunday. At Orbea, we are proud of Jarno, Steffen, Arne and Joshua. We are proud to share this journey with Lotto-Dstny, a team with the same values as our brand, which firmly believes that there is no better way to move forward than by investing in the future.
