How We Roll Ep. 4: The Shape of the Season- Orbea FMD Racing

The most important work doesn’t always happen in the spotlight. Much of this year has been built in silence, behind the scenes, in cold testing mornings, in runs repeated again and again, in glances that convey sensations which, more often than not, end up reflected in data. That’s where this story truly began.

Downhill offers no easy paths or immediate answers. It demands time, attention, and the ability to accept that progress isn’t always visible. For Orbea and FMD Racing, this first season together was not a search for quick certainties, but a process in motion, one in which the bike was an open idea, and each day on the ground helped define it a smidge more. A collective effort, built on shared knowledge and joint decision-making, true to the spirit of The Gravity Cooperative: moving forward as a team to go further.

The season unfolded like all real stories do, with twists and curves. There were days when everything clicked, and others when it seemed like nothing did. Moments when quiet work turned into wins and podiums, and others when it meant accepting that even when things are done right, results don’t always come. That’s Downhill. Demanding, direct, honest.

Between races, the bike changed. So did the team. Every adjustment was a conversation; every decision, a shared responsibility. It wasn’t just about going faster, but about understanding why. About learning when to push and when to wait. About accepting that mistakes are also part of the path when you’re building something from the ground up.

None of this would make sense without the people behind it. Riders committed beyond the race number, mechanics working long after the crowds have gone, engineers turning sensations into direction. Trust isn’t declared, it’s earned, and this season has been a succession of small gestures that have shaped something bigger than a result sheet. A way of working that reflects a way of understanding Gravity: open, collaborative, and built from within.

Now, as the year comes to a close, the feeling is not one of an ending. It’s one of foundation. Of having built something solid, with room to grow, something that makes no promises because it has already shown what it is. Downhill is a long journey, and this was only the first section. What matters is that we keep moving forward with a shared vision.
