Chords of Freedom

Finding balance is an essential part of life.

From the loud, crowded, and frenetic lifestyle of touring the world with a metalcore band to the calm, silence, and solitude of exploring the outdoors on his Terra.

Two seemingly dissonant passions ultimately come together to create a perfect harmony in the life of Architects guitarist Adam Christianson.

“I’m still just a kid playing guitar in my bedroom.”

After touring the world for 14 years with the British metalcore band Architects, Adam still finds himself rooted in the purest and most naive passion of a 12-year-old boy who has just begun strumming chords on the old guitar his grandfather fixed.

It’s that unconscious charm, the feeling of belonging and discovering one’s place in the world, that continues to guide his journey, both on and off the stage.

A means to explore new horizons, connect with others, and reconnect with himself.

Cycling entered Adam’s life in childhood, as it does for many. However, it was only after moving to a bustling city that he truly recognized the vast opportunities this discipline could offer him.

While his on-stage persona may suggest otherwise, Adam is far from showy.

His essence is deeply shaped by his homeland, the Pacific Northwest of Canada, a place that nurtured his bond with nature and the outdoors. Today, he feels fortunate to maintain that love through his Terra, his preferred escape from the chaos of everyday life and a way to reconnect with his truest self.

TERRA

Some days, you might want to push yourself as the tempo picks up; on others, you may prefer a slower, more relaxed ride to take in your surroundings.

Whatever your mood, the Terra is always there to enhance every journey.

Some call it rhythm, others refer to it as pace.

In the end, it all comes down to the same thing: the vibrations that make us feel alive, whether it’s jumping at a concert or pedaling harder on a climb. The key is that you get to choose how and when.

Feeling overwhelmed is nothing out of the ordinary, especially when you subject yourself to intense stimuli and crowds as a way of life.

There’s truly no remedy for the mind quite like escaping the noise of the world and leaving everything behind as you ride, embracing solitude and silence.

There’s a shared rebellious, punk spirit to gravel cycling.

For Adam, who began his journey in road cycling, gravel represents a refreshing departure from the conventional, a discipline that unlocks endless possibilities for exploration and adventure. There’s no set path; you forge your own.

A vast emptiness enveloped in a deafening silence, broken only by the song of a bird soaring across the sky, while the Terra traverses the arid, dry terrain of the desert. The antithesis of a parallel reality.

Music, like gravel cycling, holds a different meaning for everyone. Listening to a song or going for a ride can feel entirely unique depending on who’s experiencing it. This diversity is what makes both so special.
