Once again Orbea XC teams are setting their sights high this 2024 season. And when it comes to objectives, there are hardly any more monumental than the Cape Epic.


The teams are heading south with podium dreams in this, 20th edition of the world famous stage race. From March 17th to 24th, they will fight an 8-day battle for dominance over 700 kilometers with 16,000 m+ climbing through the South African wilderness.


Returning to this race of all races every year is pivotal. Not only is it a chance to compete with some of the best riders in the world and put our products to the test, it is also an opportunity to bring the race to the world, sharing stories of passion, grit and teamwork. This year we’re shining a light on riders and teams from all over:

Cape Epic

Ibon Zugasti is no stranger to the hostile territory of the Cape Epic. He returns for his 8th participation, this time with experienced partner Darío Gadeo.

Oiz m team xtr

The team will compete with Oiz M Teams equipped with Shimano XTR components and OQUO MP30LTD wheels.

After a close brush with victory last year, the Orbea x LEATT x Speed Company Racing duo of Georg Egger and Lukas Baum, is back and ready for a rematch.

SCR Cape Epic

Their exclusive edition of Oiz with custom paint and the new Flight Attendant system will be put to the ultimate test.

Also competing in the Elite UCI category with their Flight Attendant equipped Oiz are the Pump for Peace athletes, Tumelo Makae and Unathi Nxumano.


The pair will give visibility to a project with a deeper meaning while demonstrating that it’s possible for anyone to compete in the greatest XCM race in the world.

Not to miss out on the party, Haimar Zubeldia and Julen Zubero are also throwing their hats into the ring.


They will participate for the second time as a pair, following their 2023 race. The Basque riders will compete with Oiz M-Teams with Shimano XTR components and OQUO MP30LTD wheels.

Experienced riders from the Andaluz team KLIMATIZA TOTEEMI CABBERTY Roberto Bou and Miguel Muñoz will compete with their totally customized and unique Oiz.
